Psalm 116

I love because Yahweh has heard my plea for grace. (1)

    He inclined his ear to me;

    In all my days I will proclaim: (2)

"The cords of death encircled me;

    the snares of Sheol found me;

    I discovered trouble and sorrow. (3)

I called on the name of Yahweh,

    'Dear Yahweh, deliver my life.'" (4)

Yahweh is gracious and righteous;

    Our God is full of motherly compassion. (5)

Yahweh keeps the simple;

    when I was down and out, he gave me victory. (6)

Return to your resting place, I said to myself;

    For Yahweh has dealt bountifully with you. (7)

For you delivered my life from death,

    my eye from tears,

    my feet from stumbling. (8)

I walk before Yahweh in the land of the living! (9)

I believed even when I said, "I am suffering greatly." (10)

I said in my panic:  "All people are deceptive." (11)

What should I give back to Yahweh for all his benefits to me? (12)

I will lift up the victory cup,

    and call on/proclaim the name of Yahweh. (13)

I will pay my vows to Yahweh in the presence of all his people. (14)

How costly in Yahweh's eyes is the death of his faithful people. (15)

Dear Yahweh, I am your servant,

    I am your servant,

        the child of my mother who is also your servant.

You have loosened my bands! (16)

To you I will offer a thanksgiving sacrifice and call on/proclaim the name of Yahweh. (17)

    I will pay my vows to Yahweh in the presence of all of Yahweh's people, (18)

    in the courts of Yahweh's house, in your midst, O Jerusalem.

Praise be to Yahweh!  Hallelujah! (19)
