Psalm 119

vv. 1-8

How to be emulated are those whose way is blameless,

    who follow the instruction of Yahweh.

How to be emulated are those who keep Yahweh's precepts,

    who seek him with their whole mind,

who also do no wrong,

    and follow his ways.

It is you who have commanded your precepts

    that are to be kept diligently.

Oh that my ways would be steadfast

    in keeping your statutes.

Then I would not be ashamed

    when I would look at all your commandments.

I will praise you in integrity of heart,

    when I learn your righteous ordinances.

I will keep your statutes;

    do not utterly abandon me.

vv. 9-16

How shall young persons cleanse their lifestyle?

    By keeping your words.

With all my heart I will seek you,

    do not let me wander from your commandments.

I treasure your word of promise in my heart,

    so that I may not sin against you.

Blessed are you, Yahweh;

    teach me your statutes.

With my lips I will recount

    all the judgments of your mouth.

I have rejoiced more in the lifestyle of your decrees,

    than in all kinds of riches.

I will meditate on your commandments,

    and pay attention to your paths.

Your statutes I will keep;

    I will not forget your word of promise.

vv. 33-40

Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes,

    and I will keep it unto the end.

Give me understanding, that I may keep your instruction

    and observe it with all my heart.

Lead me in the path of your commandments,

    for I delight in that path.

Incline my heart to your decrees,

    and not toward selfish profit.

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things;

    preserve my life according to your promise.

Confirm your commitment to your servant,

    which is for those who reverence you.

Turn away the reproach which I dread,

    for your ordinances are good.

How I long for your precepts;

    in your faithfulness to your relationship with me, preserve my life.
