Psalm 33

Righteous people, give a ringing cheer for Yahweh.

    Praise is appropriate behavior for the upright.

Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre;

    make melody for Yahweh with a harp with ten strings.

Sing to Yahweh a new song;

    play skillfully on your instrument and shout.

For the word of Yahweh is upright,

    and all Yahweh's works are done with fidelity.

Yahweh loves righteousness and justice;

    the earth is full of Yahweh's loyalty.

By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made,

    and all their stars by the breath of Yahweh's mouth.

Yahweh gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle;

    Yahweh put the deeps in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear Yahweh;

    let all the inhabitants of the earth stand in awe of Yahweh.

For Yahweh spoke and things happened;

    Yahweh commanded, and things took their place.

Yahweh makes the devious plans of nations ineffectual;

    Yahweh frustrates the devices of the peoples.

The plan of Yahweh will stand forever,

    the thoughts of Yahweh's heart forever and ever.

The following verses are the Psalm for the 10th Sunday after Pentecost

How to be emulated is the nation whose God is Yahweh,

    the people whom Yahweh has chosen as his heritage.

Yahweh looks down from heaven;

    Yahweh sees all humankind.

From his throne Yahweh surveys

    all the inhabitants of the earth.

Yahweh is the one who fashions all their hearts,

    and knows all their deeds.

No king is saved by the great size of his army;

    no warrior is delivered by the greatness of his strength.

The horse is useless for safety;

    its great strength offers no sure escape.

Truly the eye of Yahweh is on those who fear him,

    on those on bank on Yahweh's loyalty,

to deliver their life from death,

    and to keep them alive in time of famine.

Our innermost being hopes in Yahweh;

    Yahweh is our help and our shield.

Our heart rejoices in Yahweh,

    because we trust in Yahweh's holy name.

Let your loyalty, Yahweh, be upon us,

    even as we hope in you.
