Psalm 36

An oracle: rebellion belongs to the wicked in the center of their hearts;

    there is no fear of God before their eyes.

For they flatter themselves too much in their own eyes

    so that their iniquity cannot be discovered or hated.

The words of their mouth are wickedness and deceit;

    they have stopped acting wisely and doing good.

They devise wickedness while they are lying in bed;

    they place themselves on a path that is not good;

    they do not reject evil.

Here begins the Psalm for the 2nd Sunday after the Epiphany, Series C.

Your loyalty, Yahweh, reaches to the heavens,

    your fidelity extends up to the clouds.

Your righteousness is like the most awesome mountains (the mountains of God),

    Your judgments are like the great "deep."

    Yahweh, you save humans and animals alike.

How precious is your loyalty, God!

    all humanity finds refuge in the shade of your wings.

They feast on the provisions of your house,

    and you provide them drink from the river of your delights.

For with you is the fountain of life;

    in your light we see the light.

Extend your loyalty to all who acknowledge you,

    your vindication to those who are upright of heart.

Here ends the Psalm for the 2nd Sunday after the Epiphany, Series C.

Do not let the foot of the proud person trample on me,

    Or the hand of the wicked drive me off.

Those who work wickedness will be desolated;

    they will be thrust down, unable to rise.
