Psalm 62

For God alone my inner self waits in silence;

    from God comes my victory.

Surely God is my rock and the source of my victory,

    my refuge where I will never be shaken.

How long will you overwhelm a person with reproofs?

    How long will you batter your victim, all of you,

    like a broken-down wall and like a tottering fence?

They plot to bring down a person from his or her lofty place.

    They take pleasure in lies;

        they bless with their mouths, but curse from the inside.  Selah.

Here begins the psalm segment for the 3rd Sunday after the Epiphany, Series B

For God alone my inner self waits in silence;

    for from God comes my hope.

Surely God is my rock and the source of my victory,

    my refuge, where I will not be shaken.

On God depends my victory and my honor;

    my powerful rock, my refuge is in God.

O people, trust in God at all times;

    pour out your heart before God;

    God is a refuge for us.  Selah

Surely nothing but vapor are human beings of low estate,

    and those of high estate are a delusion;

in the balances they go up;

    they are altogether lighter than vapor.

Do not trust in oppression,

    and do not set your vain hopes on robbery;

if riches increase;

    do not set you heart on them.

Once God has spoken;

    twice I have heard:

    that power belongs to God.

Loyalty also belongs to you, Lord;

    for you repay people in accordance with their deeds.
