Psalm 84

How lovely are your dwelling places, O Yahweh of the heavenly armies!

My innermost being yearns, yes even faints for the courts of Yahweh;

    my heart and my flesh give a ringing cheer for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home,

    and a swallow a nest for herself,

    where she may place her young,

at your altars, O Yahweh of the heavenly armies, my king and my God.

How to be emulated are those who dwell in your house,

    continually singing your praises.  Selah

How to be emulated are the people whose strength is in you,

    whose heart is set on pilgrimage roads.

As they go through the valley of Baca

    they make it a place of springs;

    the early rain also envelopes it with pools.  [end of the Psalm for Pentecost 21]

They go from strength to strength;

    the God of Gods makes an appearance in Zion.

Yahweh, God of the heavenly armies, hear my prayer;

    listen, O God of Jacob.  Selah

Look at our shield, O God;

    gaze on the face of your anointed one.

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand spent elsewhere.

I would choose to be a threshold-watcher in the house of my God

    rather than to while away my time in the tents of the wicked.

For Yahweh God is  sun and shield;

    Yahweh bestows grace and honor.

Yahweh withholds no good thing from those who walk in integrity.

O Yahweh of the heavenly armies,

    how to be emulated is the person who trusts in you.
